Killing time: Browsergame World

Finding new ways to kill some time and play games

Chances are you have played a game online. Perhaps you are addicted to Farmville, or Plants vs. Zombies on Facebook, or you play Words With Friends on your iPhone or iPad. If you did not already know, there are some other ways to play some online games right in your web browser. Take a look at Browsergame World the next time you want to play some online games.

Browsergame World asked me to check out their site. So I did.

Here’s the thing though. You might want to know how to read German, because the site is largely in German text. For someone like me, it might be difficult to find your way around the site but fortunately there are visuals to go along with the text so you can still get an idea of what type of game you are checking out.

Since I was new to the site I just clicked on one of the top-ranked games on the site. I checked out World of Dungeons, which is described as a fantasy browser role-playing game. Without having spent too much time on it, I figured it was close to a free version of World of Warcraft, or something like that. The site claims there are over 23,000 active players and there were over 2,000 players currently on-line when I checked it out.

There are a number of other games you can play without having to download any software, so if you know how to read some German, feel free to give it a deeper look. After a while I gave up on trying to decipher everything from pictures and take a guess, and instead went back to playing some Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword… in English.
