A couple of years ago 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia, an ESPN affiliated sports radio station, held a contest with a grand prize of winning a one-year contract to appear on the radio station as a host. I entered and, unfortunately for me, fell shy of the grand prize. Two years have now passed and the contest is back in full swing. This time I am hoping to have a more polished approach to the contest to gain some momentum toward the grand prize, another one-year contract as a host for the station.
As was the case a couple of years ago, the station is hoping this contest spreads virally through the use of social media. Figuring this would be the case, I set up a Facebook page dedicated to my own platform and audition. I invited some friends and family to get me off to a good start in the days leading up to the contest and intend to keep the page active throughout the month of June as I try to show off my Philadelphia sports takes and encourage others to check out my video and more.
In the coming days I will share my official entry video and share that on the Facebook page, Twitter and more, including this website as well. I will keep you posted on the contest on a more regular basis on my personal blog as well. If you would like to help me out, Like the Facebook page and use the #McGuire975 hash tag on Twitter when you are tweeting at me or 97.5 The Fanatic.
As it stands right now, I am closing in on 100 Facebook likes, so please consider helping me out and getting me in to triple digits, and feel free to invite your Facebook friends to the page as well. I plan on posting my official video on Wednesday or Thursday, so stay tuned!
Regardless of the eventual outcome, I hope to have fun and meet some new people along the way. Winning the contest would be a true dream come true for this amateur podcaster, and I hope to have you take this journey with me every step of the way.
